A man and police officers had a standoff that nobody thought was going to come to an end. That is, until pizza show up! Pizza to the rescue!
Evan Charles McLemore, 33, harassed his family using Coldplay lyrics, along with threatening violence from his ‘Nazi prison associates’ (huh?!) and ended up in a standoff with police for four hours.
Police responded to the residence because of a possible battery charge, only to find McLemore had barricaded himself into a backroom. Officers attempted to try to get him to come out, but he wasn’t having it. He said he “had a gun to his head and he was not going back to prison, no matter what it took.”
Soon, the SWAT team arrived and attempted to negotiate with him to get him to come out. Lots of enticing offers were met with firm resistance, until McLemore got hungry. When the negotiators offered him a slice of pizza, all bets were off! He came out with his hands up and was immediately taken into custody, eventually being charged with resisting an officer without violence and aggravated stalking.
McLemore admitted to ingesting “many various narcotics” when he had barricaded himself and initially had to be taken to the hospital to be medically cleared.
He also had a preexisting warrant for aggravated stalking, which made things extra dicey for him. Records indicate McLemore previously served 18 months in prison for battery on a person older than 65, which was a family member. He is currently being held in jail on $6,000 bond until he will be sent to court.
Still no word on if he actually got that pizza, though!
