Buffet Erupts in Brawl Over Crab Legs

When you go to a dinner buffet and things seem to be running low, such as crab legs, you better be careful who you mess with in line! That’s what diners experienced recently at a local restaurant!

Alabama cops say two people were extremely mad as they were waiting in the buffet line for crab legs. Little did they know that a police officer was right next to them getting ready to chow down, too!

“Literally, as I sat down and maybe took two bites out of my plate, There’s a woman who’s beating a man. People are moving around, plates are shattering everywhere,”  Police officer Gerald Johnson recalled.

So much for an evening of peace and quiet for dinner with his family!

Soon enough, he thought he heard a fencing match at the buffet line! As it turns out, it was just people fighting each other with a pair of tongs. We can’t make this stuff up, folks.

“Soon, everyone was yelling, ‘They cut me in line, she cut me in line, he cut me in line, I was here first,’” Johnson said.

Police eventually arrested John Chapman and Chequita Jenkins, who happened to be eating at the restaurant with their children. Classy.

“They’d all been waiting there for the crab legs for a good 10 to 20 minutes. And when they finally came out, it got heated fast. Especially if someone was caught taking more than their fair share,” Johnson remembered.

Chapman is now facing disorderly conduct, with Jenkins charged with third-degree assault, as she cut Chapman on the head while they were tong-fighting. Both could end up paying a few hundred dollars in fines, which is well above the $10.58 per plate charge that they already paid at the buffet!

These must have been some amazing crab legs, and we may have to try out this restaurant the next time we are in good ole’ Bama.
